There’s only 2 weeks until Red Angus Judging at the 2010 Sydney Show. Looking forward to catching up with Red Angus Breeders from all Australia, and indeed cattle breeders from all over the world. There are some people who are concerned by showing cattle and how it is different from commercial production – we think of it as a social event with peers and a good opportunity to compare our cattle side by side with others. We will also have Breedplan performance figures available soon for these animals.

Rain!
March 9, 2010Hello all – well what a difference rain makes. In the past week we have had close to 6 inches of rain, which even prevented us attending Pittsworth Show! We have entered 3 head for Sydney Show in a months time and thought a little practice run at Pittsworth would be in order – never mind – we’d much rather have the rain!

Seasons Greetings
December 26, 2009Wishing everyone a safe and happy festive season and a new year filled with plenty of rain.

Catching Up
December 22, 2009Well – what a big couple of months. In summary:
The bulls sold well at Ag Grow Emerald, with B07 topping the Red Angus draft, selling to Charters Towers.
The World Angus Forum was huge – we met so many lovely people from all over the globe. Saw some very good bulls – especially during our travels through the USA.
We were please to host the Red Angus Society’s President Mr Earl Dakin following the Qld Red Angus Meeting last month – pity there wasn’t a blade of grass to be seen.
We have just had 32 mils of rain this week – to say its been welcome would be a dramatic understatement.

Only 31 days to go…..
June 8, 2009Its only 31 days until we depart for the World Angus Forum. To be held at Spruce Meadows, Calgary, it will be a great opportunity to catch up with Angus breeders from all over the world. see http://www.worldangusforum.com

Rain and other welcome visitors
June 7, 2009This week we were honored to have two special visitors – Mr Alex Podolinsky and Ms Francis Porter from the Bio-dynamic Research Institute. Alex is well known throughout the world as the pre eminent authority on Bio Dynamic farming and it was fabulous to have the opportunity to show he and Francis around the herd. For more information on Bio-dynamic farming see http://www.demeter.org.au
Have also had light showers over the last week that has seen the grass start to grow!

Congratulations

The Spirit of Mystery has arrived! After 5 months and 11,800 miles, the boat arrived in Melbourne yesturday. We were there to witness its arrival through Pt Lonsdale and into Port Phillip Bay, then went to the Royal Yacht Club of Victoria to see Spirit of Mystery dock safely. for the full history see http://www.petegoss.com/weblog

All over bar the shouting…..
March 8, 2009Recovering from the big Pittsworth Angus Feature Show, held yesterday. Raffs took out Champion Cow and Milton and Cheryl Fowler together with Gav & Kirril Iseppi won the Champion Bull. The win was fitting, as Milton and Cheryl had work long hours to organise the whole event. Our bull calf won his class and the baby heifer came 2nd. Most importantly neither of them got away, even after the bagpipes were played!
